Thanks Joanne Galliher for also diligently doing your homework! Reality for me is I have had no healthcare for 3 years due to pre-existing diabetes, no companies would insure me. ObamaCare changes that for millions of us. My insurance plan: vitamin supplements, diet, exercise and prayers I dont break anything or need a surgery. Under the new plan they will have to accept me into a plan, but unfortunately I make $500 too much for any subsidy. But I thank God every day that I have a job, that after taxes and my bills, 1/4 of my income goes to supporting others. So far the cheapest plans with $5000 deductibles may run 5-$650 a month for just me. A higher deductible would just bankrupt me. After talking to a knowledgeable rep though, he suggests I wait out the scare take only catastrophic policy, and continue to pay out of pocket for my physicals. My last trip for a sinus infection was only $100 including meds, and thats a lot less than $600 a month. It is crazy to think all those newly insured will somehow overtax the healthcare system with astronomic treatment needs. Just like when all drivers were forced to get auto insurance by law, the rates skyrocketed for all to compensate for risky drivers. Once the reality set in that the claims were not there, everyone saw an across the board reduction in rates to where they are now the lowest ever. The same with eventually happen in healthcare. People will get preventive care and we will all benefit.
