Thanks Linda Tynes for the number 12! Here goes......chronologically 1. I am the oldest of the 7 siblings in our family. The youngest is 25 years younger than me. 2. I am originally from Warren, Pa, a small town in Northwest Pennsylvania 3. I played trumpet at Ackerman High School until I put my head through the windshield of my Volkswagon. 4. Our family built a house in Ackerman, and I mean WE (my parents, three brothers and two sisters) did all the work. I learned residential wiring, plumbing and how to procure used brick as a 16 year old. How else can you build a 4500 square foot 5 bedroom house for only $17,500 ? 5. The summer before college I was working as an apprentice diesel mechanic in Starkville and not sure if I wanted to become a mechanic or band director. 6. I worked my way through college at the steel mill in Ackerman. One of my co-workers was Phil Burchfield who is now Superintendent of Clinton Public Schools. 7. I was a double major (baritone and tuba) as an undergrad at Delta State and studied trombone the following year in graduate school. 8. I disavow any knowledge of the KA fraternity cannon that mysteriously got filled with concrete at 3am one Sunday morning circa. 1976. :) I also will not confirm or deny that two of the co-conspirators become musicians in the U.S. Marine Corps and another the director of bands at a college in Arkansas. 9. In my 27 year teaching career I served as head band director at Senatobia, Greenwood and Ripley, and an assistant director at Pearl. 10. From 1993-2004 I also had a part time job driving charter buses, and can take you to almost anywhere in Washington D.C., Memphis, New Orleans, Colorado and Ely, Minnesota without a map! I blame the lymphodema in my right leg on the week in Manhattan driving a standard shift worn out Eagle bus. 11. My first marriage lasted 25 wonderful years. My second marriage is now 10 years strong and equally wonderful and has let me find sides of myself I did not know existed. 12. My son Daniel did not listen to me as a child, and also decided to become a band director. He is a much better musician than I could ever hope to be.....thanks to his mom. :) BONUS #13 The summer before A Time To Kill was filmed, I drove a bus for their pre-production crew. The passenger I had the privilege of sitting across the table at lunch with was Matthew McConaughey
