Thanks Nelson Herwig...yes if you think this shutdown is just about what you are being told..then it is time for a reality check... Reality check time again.....The government was shut down 17 times prior to this one since 1976. Now remember that it is all up to President Obama and the leader of the Senate Harry Reid to decide what to shut down IF anything. We have not had a budget passed by the Democratic Senate in 5 years now, and they never felt the need to shut anything down before this until they could use it to force funding through for the nightmare of a failure called Obamacare. Do you know how many times WWll vets were locked out of a memorial? Or how many times national parks were closed during those government shutdowns? Or how many times military chaplains were ordered not to work (even if for free) or they would be arrested for praying with the military? Or how many times the D-Day memorial in France was closed or how many times residents were forced from their private homes including an elderly couple of 77 and 80 who were given 24 hours to leave their home of 35 years? Could you guess how many times the Amber Alert system was shut down? Or if people were ever blocked from viewing Mt Rushmore? Do you think sports programs were ever blacked out from our overseas troops so those defending our freedoms here could not watch football or baseball but yet Obama can still golf? How many times in history did a corrupt administration ever stop paying benefits to those who lost family members fighting in a war that this President sent them over there to fight in. Do you imagine the Vietnam Memorial was ever barricaded prior to this shutdown? What about closing Mt Vernon which is privately funded? Or clogging the Grand Canyon? Or 100 other privately managed parks that cost the government zero dollars to run? How many times was over 1000 square miles of fishing shut down just to hurt fisherman whose livelihood that is? And they actually have to pay EXTRA people to go out and patrol, ticket and arrest those who fish on open waters in the ocean. I wonder if, during the previous shutdowns the National Institutes of Health, which offers children with cancer last-chance experimental treatment, was ever interrupted which Harry Reid said ‘Why would we want to save kids dying of cancer?’ The answer to all of these questions is NONE until this administration.
