Thanks a lot to Champak David Majumdar for this information. The food known as khichuri/ Khichdi in India is called Indian Village Kedgeree in English. The English adapted this Indian dish during the Victorian Age and introduced fish flakes (conventionally Haddock, Tuna or Salmon in some experimental cases) in it. From then on, Kedgeree became the name for this English modification of the dish and the original, Indian form which we still consume started being called Indian Village Kedgeree.
