When you call, you dont need to say a lot-just reiterate the main message of the petition, which is: GEs recent decision to end Healthcare for Post-65 Salaried Retirees is another example of the need HR 1322 EARNED HEALTHCARE RETIREES PROTECTION ACT. Many Large Corporations are cutting EARNED Retiree Healthcare Benefits--GE, IBM, AT & T, Time-Warner, Etc. The number of employers covering retirees has declined sharply over the years, to just 28% in 2013, compared with 66% in 1988. Between 2000 and 2010, average annual total out-of-pocket spending among beneficiaries in traditional Medicare increased by 44%, to $4,734. During that time, total out-of-pocket costs increased at an average annual growth rate of 3.7%. This has become a dangerous and detrimental trend among the Large Corporations; Corporations that made promises to continue Earned Retiree Healthcare Coverage. Like ERISA and PBGC legislation...now is the time for Legislation to revise/amend the ERISA Law, and protect EARNED Healthcare Benefits for Retirees. We are asking every member of Congress to Reconsider this Needed Bill/Legislation (last Bill introduced was HR 1322).
