Thanks for Caring assisted Leticia last year with transport for tutoring. Leticia, aged 13 cares for her grandmother who has battled cancer, is a diabetic and crippled with polio. Schooling was not a priority for Leticia as her caring role became more important when her grandmother was undergoing chemo treatment. Overall Leticia spends up to 20 hours per week attending to her grandmother’s needs as well as general household tasks and cooking. Earlier this year we also assisted Leticia by providing her with an iPad in order to help her with her education and to communicate more easily with her teachers. Leticia also entered the Young Carers Poetry Slam with an enlightening poem.
