Thanks for all the check ins about Daddy. Here is what happened: sometime early yesterday morning-around 4 am-he woke up and was unable to get his breath. He was having such a hard time, he couldnt get himself out of the bed. When he was finally able to get to his chair, he took a breathing treatment, but continued to struggle and be short of breath until I called him (no, he did not call anyone for help! Stubborn, independent man!). He immediately told me he needed to go to the hospital. He was so hoarse and short of breath that I couldnt understand him, so I came to his house and took him to the ER. He does not have pneumonia, just a very bad exacerbation (flair up) of his COPD. I have been with him most of the day and he is doing better. They are loading him up with steroids and breathing treatments. He has a wonderful little nurse and they are taking good care of him. He will be there until tomorrow or Tuesday. Dr. Bush (the Hospitalist at Claiborne County-very good doctor!) really wants to keep him longer, but Daddy is anxious to go home. Please keep him in your prayers. His lungs are in terrible shape.
