Thanks for all the lovely birthday messages, people. It has been humbling, and Jackie McMillan has spoilt me rotten between last nights dinner at Sepia and the extraordinary suite of gifts today. But there is another birthday on today that is also a bit important to me, that I will be heading off to celebrate tonight - Triple Js 40th. Starting there in 1986 and working there until late 1998 changed the trajectory of my entire life. Nearly everything good that has happened in my life since then has, one way or another, been a product of that extraordinary period of time there. Everything. From starting at The Sydney Hellfire Club and meeting my future wife Jackie there over twenty years ago, to my subsequent careers at Sydney Opera House and Sydney Film Festival, it was a watershed, a mind-blowing epically awesome trip that made more than just my head explode. It changed my life completely. I look forward to catching up with many of my ex-colleagues at the party tonight, and will raise a glass to those of us who didnt make it this far. Feeling grateful. Thanks.
