Thanks for allowing me to join this group. I have lived in Cheadle for 37 years and seen many changes. I was a mere 27 years of age then and now I have been retired for 8 years. I love doing my family history and I would like to share, what to me, is a remarkable story . I was researching my MARSH family who originated in Unsworth Bury. I was born in the evacuation hospital in Prestbury but was brought up near Manchester Citys ground...Main Road in Moss Side. At he age of 9 we moved to Denton. When I married we lived in Heaton Norris and then moved to Cheadle. After doing my family history about the MARSH family, I noticed that Ralph Marsh was missing from the family home in Unsworth int the mid 19th century. Where was he? I found him at Barnes Hospital, which in those days was a considerable distance from Unsworth. Imagine my surprise when I was gardening one day to realise that I could could see the tower of Barnes hospital from my back garden. Was it meant to be? He was my great great great great grandfather. Other than this I have no known connection with Cheadle.
