Thanks for everyones input on a special feature I am interested in doing. I decided that I am going to do a special report on, you guessed it... THE POLAR VORTEX. Well, not completely. :) I am going to take a look back at last year and compare it to this year. Weve been bitterly cold this winter and I believe MORE cold is coming (below zero tonight and another arctic blast late month and into February). However, unlike last year, the term Polar Vortex hasnt been thrown out there much. Why is that? Is it because of the media? Is it because the public now considers this cold to be normal during the winter? How/why are this winters arctic blasts different from last winters cold snaps? Where does this cold come from and why is it sometimes warmer in Canada & Alaska? Lets not forget the big question: what does this mean for the rest of the winter and early spring?! These are just some of the questions I will tackle. In addition to comparing this season with last, I am also going to touch on global climate change and overall pattern changes affect our local weather in the winter and summer. I think many of you will find this part of the story interesting. Im leaving the politics of global warming out of this story and will focus on the science and local effects of a global climate change. I look forward to sharing my thoughts and knowledge with you and am excited to hear your thoughts after you see my feature. Thanks to everyone who gave me input -- I really appreciate it.
