Thanks for having me in the group. I have a question that is beyond my knowledge, but I think my educated guess is right. Is the DNA test that people use to determine paternity the same essential way that we have mapped other animals genome and are able to determine which animals are most closely related to each other? My thought is that this is a great way to relate to people that doubt or may not understand the depth of the scientific knowledge that backs up the theory of evolution. They may doubt evolution, but they dont question a DNA test. This may be a good debate topic to blend their knowledge starting on something they do not doubt. People are doing the geneology tests a lot these days getting their tests to see where they are from. Am I right that is is the same or similar enough of an analogy or is it not related enough to argue? If it is similar, how similar? Everyone essentially believes in math since it is just a function of knowledge, not a belief. It would be nice if these two topics are closely related enough to say that if you believe 2+2=4, then this is just like saying 3+4 isnt 7. It may be a little more distantly related like comparing algebra to geometry. Im looking for someone with more direct knowledge of these two processes to shed some light. Thanks
