S&Co. education program would be wise investment To the Editor, In 1991 we had a phone-a-thon in the offices of Shakespeare & Company at The Mount to save our Fall Festival of Shakespeare production of Troilus and Cressida at Taconic High School. I was disappointed to see that 23 years later the students of Taconic are again at it, working to save their own play. If we clean up the budget of the city of Pittsfield, maybe someday there will be a line item for this wonderful program that does so much good in our community. If not for the Shakespeare & Company education program I would have never met my terrific husband, wouldnt have had an opportunity to act (poorly) on the main stage, spent idyllic summers at that fantastic property, or met loads of groovy famous people. I have found some of my dearest friends there. Its not just me. Thousands of people have found their voice in this program and gone on to become better, more empowered citizens. Not just actors, not just creatives like me, but people out in the world with an enhanced sense of confidence and ability to take a chance, make the scary big decisions and do good in the world.
