Thanks for the add. As a Foreigner living in Enfield for the last 14 years, raising my two beautiful half Italian children here with my amazing Waltham Abby born-Enfield raised partner, I am saddened by a few of the comments directed to people like me; who now call Enfield their home. I find these comments suggesting foreigners go back to where they came from insulting and I would like to remind those who may have forgotten, that the world is filled with British ex-pats living it up in Australia, New Zealand, Spain, France, Bali, India, Turkey, everywhere really and that is the beauty of immigration the direction of flow goes both ways. I joined the FB group because I was interested to see old pics of the place I now call home. The place that welcomed me with open arms, but unfortunately comments like the ones I stumbled across make me feel extremely hurt. My partner is the son of Italian immigrants, I came here from New Zealand 20 years ago and I dont believe blaming a minority of people who may or may not be foreigners (Im sure if you looked into the violent crime statistics in Enfield the acts are perpetrated by British born and bred individuals) some of you just may not like the colour of their skin or their foreign sounding last names, but if its a stabbing or mugging chances are they are teenagers who wouldnt have just got off the boat. I fear media scare mongering and the propensity for humans to search out a scapegoat and in particular one that is easily identifiable is at work here. I find it distasteful, small minded and insulting..........just saying.
