Thanks for the add, Seth! I live in East TN south of Knoxville, and back in the late summer-early fall I merged a weak with a strong hive. At that time, I fed the bees a sugar/water mix, in the kind of feeder that inserts into the hive body--the hive is made up of two 10-frame mediums--and replaces two frames. Still wondering if they have enough food stored for winter, a couple of days ago I made a sugar block (1 lb. sugar:1C water heated to just under 250, then left to set up). I couldn’t get the sugar block out of the pie pan today when I went to feed them, so I inverted the pan onto the top of the frames, balanced the inside cover on it, and replaced the outside cover. Hopefully, my explanation makes enough sense that someone can tell me if I should have done anything differently. I appreciate any guidance you can give.
