Thanks so VERY much to all who walked in todays Kool-Aid days parade! Every year our contingent gets bigger and more diverse, a testimony to what reaching out to our community of friends, family, fellow Nebraskans and each other can accomplish. Lets always keep in mind as well, we walk with pride not just so others can see but to confirm our own capacity and right to be part of the communities we live in, to give hope and provide role models for others who may not be where we are yet on our journey towards being the people that we know we are and wish to be recognized as. After I finished the formal events, I spent time after lunch meandering among the crowd, handing out some Chuck literature and just visiting with people and listening to their comments and not a few people said Hey! We saw you guys marching! GREAT JOB! I just want you to all know how proud I am of all of you who stood up for yourselves, those among us who arent ready yet or dont feel they can and for those who dont yet know they need us to show the way! You are all HEROES in my book and countless others as well!
