Thanks to Brigitte Brisson for sharing these photos of her grandfather. Léo Paul Graveline was a Private 1st Class with the 28th Infantry Division. He was in the 110th regiment, Co. I. He enrolled in the army in 1944 when he was 18. He served under Maj. Gen. Norman D. Cota. and Maj. Gen. Daniel B. Strickler. He fought during the Battle of the Bulge and also during the Colmar Pocket. Bridget said, “He was really lucky during the war because he was never wounded; indeed, he keeps saying that his great faith in God always helped him through that hard time.” The first picture was taken at a summer house in Laval (Québec, Canada) during the summer of 1945, when he was on leave. The other picture was taken at a training camp in 1944 at Jacksonville in Florida with his comrades. He is the one in front on his knees. The last and more recent picture was taken at San Francisco on a trip in 2010. He is now 89 years old and had a heart surgery this past July. Thanks for sharing these great photos and for your grandfathers service. Roll On!
