Thanks to Charles Garrett for turning me on this story. A woman has been traveling the western U.S. and painting faces on rocks and inside national parks and wilderness preserves. Casey Nocket tries to defend herself comparing her work to that of noted street artist Banksy and defending herself as a feminist. Charles has been following the story closely, and Ill be quick to point out that its become a bit of an internet sensation with many copycat sites and tumblrs claiming to be her just stir up controversy. So internet searches on the story are a mixed bag. However this link: goo.gl/63QDQ2 is to an article about her trip through the western US where she did her work. It can be seen that she vandalize these locations and in some cases climbed across protected historical works. Furthermore, it should be noted that plenty of people on within her social network seem to be of the opinion that this isnt wrong. The link below is a white house petition asking Ms. Nocket to be pursued and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I rarely post stuff like this, but I signed it - and I hope you will too.
