Thanks to Debbie Jordan and Margaret-Margie Sizer Johnston Hannah for their reviews of my book on Amazon!!! By debbie Jordan on June 19, 2014 Format: Paperback I happened to be visiting Atlanta at the time of this epic snowstorm - with a thick layer of ice that preceded it. I can attest that the storm was epic, and I live in Minnesota and am not generally impressed by snow. This Atlanta storm literally shut the city down and stuck people in their tracks for as long as 24 hours. When the mayor and governor could do nothing to get people home from work and filled school buses to their destination, Michelle Sollicito initiated the facebook group by the same name (Snowed Out Atlanta). The result was unbelievable. Thousands of people posted their location and situation, and others in the vicinity or willing to travel came and helped. This facebook group connected people and got things moving when no one else could. This book is a compilation of some of the facebook conversations which show how this site was able to help thousands of people. In addition to the conversations, there are many beautiful pictures. Michelle began the site and maintained and orchestrated it until everyone got the needed help and was home safely. It is a beautiful book, and shows the triumphant nature of the human spirit! Thank you, Michelle for all that you did for the city of Atlanta and for writing this awesome book. Comment Thank you for your feedback. Snowed Out Atlanta Review By Margaret Johnston Hannah on June 20, 2014 Format: Paperback Verified Purchase Excellent and important account of how the SnowedOutAtlanta Facebook group helped save the life of me and many others in the storm at the end of January. My account is not in it, but it was very useful to my friends in helping get me to shelter that awful night. Michelle also made some very good recommendations as to how future situations could be better handled. I hope that the Georgia authorities will listen to and implement her recommendations. Even if they dont, Im very grateful for what she did to help me and do intend to check the weather forecast each and every time I plan to drive through Atlanta again. Some of my friends done wont to go through it even in good conditions, but Im okay with it as long as theyre not expecting snow. amazon/Snowed-Out-Atlanta-Michelle-Sollicito/dp/1304955036/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1403185111&sr=8-1&keywords=snowed+out+atlanta
