Thanks to Glynis Diane for sharing this, with a suggestion that all should watch 91-year-old Harry Smith tell about his childhood, not like an episode from Downton Abbey. Yes, this is a political point-of-view - but I want to share with all of us whose parents and grandparents lived and worked thru wars, depression, and health plagues - while we started off with advantages given to us, not earned by us, with good education and healthcare, and no call to public service. Still with us are many who dont have what we have, and yet some of us dont care. Oh, we might change our tunes if misfortune hits us. Im not impressed by young or old pundits and posters who think theyve done it all on their own when what they have is clearly the result of sacrifice by parents and others and the beneficence of government that cares about all.
