Thanks to Lisa Dickson Simmons I am reading a book called Love Skip Jump ( Paula Swenson) you should read it too.... it is so very familiar.... she talks about saying YES .... and how YES GOD changed her life and she ended up in AFRICA... and even served with a pastor named Peter.... so did I.... it is an all too familiar story.... but I believe GOD has extraordinary things for anyone willing to say yes.... I believe there would be much more common ground.... common stories... if all were willing to say YES to a whatever life.... it may not be an AFRICA journey.... but it will be a thrill of a lifetime..... I promise. .... One of the things that hit her was the extreme poverty.... seeing a child with a protruding belly from starvation..... and her observation at that moment... that in America the opposite is happening.... there are people who have eaten SO MUCH food that it is literally killing them.... but there in that out of sight out of mind village the lack of food is killing people..... one is dying of too much and one is dying of too little.....THIS IS WHY I GET UNDONE when I see pounds of food thrown away, especially after social events, we fill up till our eyeballs bulge and then toss the rest in the gargage without a thought.... O my skin crawls and my eyes twitch...... O cant there be a happy medium.... cant we give up a little so our brothers and sisters in other countries or down the street can have something..... Poverty and hunger ARE NOT LIMITED to third worlds..... it is in our neighborhoods... it just looks different..... Yes this is another DRAMATIC Lori post but regardless of my drama, passion whatever it is labeled it is all true.... not exagerated.... I saw it in AFRICA, NICARAGUA, on HILLSBORO STREET in El DOrado... we can pretend it isnt real as we chomp down another double meat burger, fries and a ultra biggie size coke...... but its real.... really it is.... So.....my challenge today is FIRST AND FOREMOST say YES LORD and second help feed someone.... call me.... there are Nicaragua children to sponsor.... I have a friend who can help you sponsor an African orphanage.... or I can take you down the street to see some hungry folks right here.... or just go on line and find a worthy organization to help out......... if you are not already, just do something..... if you own a business, ask your employees to collect food or sponsor children..... it isnt hard, and it costs very little..... let this be the year that GOD blows your mind because you were willing to say one simple word..... YES! Go with HIM to the wherevers and do the whatevers with the whoevers..... If ya wanna donate food, 5 cans goes a long way when combined with another persons 5 cans.....
