Thanks to Ryan, I saw Enders Game tonight. I originally had no intentions to see it. I even spent a portion of the movie convincing myself I wasnt enjoying. Scott Orson Card is a homophobic bigot, and he is venomous man I never care to like. But the movie was great; I can only assume the book is much grander. And I felt conflicted at the end, because here was a piece of art, a piece of culture that this man brought to life. It brings pleasure and, yes, inspiration to people, and I believe it would be an awful thing to discount this story simply because it came from a repulsive source. None of use are without flaw, and weve all been on the wrong side of the opinion at least once. Im not encouraging anyone to like the author or forgive him, but I do ask that you measure the merit of the story on its own accord, and celebrate its value separate from the man behind it.
