Thanks to a terrific team, we were able to smoothly arrive at UVA on time : Dana helping plan and prepare ahead, Sandi coming early the night before, my most selfless mom taking care of the girls, home, and dogs, and then our favorite EMTs picking us up!!! At the hospital, we met so many people who still remembered micah from one year ago. With Shawn being there as well........PARTY TIME!!!! His hilariousness combined with micahs great sense of humor, the entire 7th floor lacked no entertainment! After some blood work, we were cleared to do the Lumbar Puncture and Baclofen Injection. Every couple of hours PT and OT had to evaluate micahs tone before and after. After doing this several times, we also asked micah about the before and after. His own words : - before: bucking Bronco (due to involuntary leg kicking - after : Ragdoll With other words, it worked!!!! His surgery for the implant and 3day stay at UVA will be on the 16th of February. We are so thankful! The last few weeks, for us, has been spending time again in the hallway, waiting for a door to open. This is definitely an open door!!! The waiting in the hallway has turned out to be a very important and rich time as well, tho! The good news from yesterday was undoubtedly a highlight. Yet, I can honestly say that visiting with Hunter, Lisa, and Al was just as much of a highlight.......if not a higher light! The mutual encouragement and sharing was much needed. I have almost forgotten how refreshing it is to spend time with another family that travels the same road. It was a good day and ended by micah sharing his journey to heaven and back with one of the EMTs we have become family with. Micah reminded us of Gods forgiveness, I have met the Forgiver of everyones sins, why would I not forgive others? referring to his accident. Micah continued by making it clear that there was no other way but to live our life filled-out with God.
