Thanks to all of you who have texted me in support of the article posted in The Coloradoan (link below). I feel very lucky to work with a guy like Pete Turner who legitimately listened to these group of residents concerned with the name Illegal Petes. As a Korean-American, who started out as a customer of Petes and who now works as Marketing Director for the past 5 years, I have never once considered race when thinking of our name or stepping into our restaurants. I will say that these people have genuine feelings and experiences and dont want to discount that. I think that if you spend your time trying to take things out of context and paint things in a negative manner, you can make anything seem less than it is. I am proud to work for a company that treats its employees well, like friends, and does so much for the community around us. Illegal Petes Ft Collins opens on November 13th and its possible we will have some picketers, but I can rest easy knowing that we have lots of friends and family who will support us on this big day. Id like to think that those picketing will eventually see the good work we do as a restaurant and as a good community member and think of us in a more positive manner.
