Thanks to all of you who responded to my question about Scottish-Viking heritage. However, not all Vikings were blond/blue-eyed. In fact, some were darker, with brown eyes. My father was Viking/Norman, and looked every inch so with pale blue eyes and reddish blond hair. However, my mother was brunet, but with pale blue eyes and was Viking/Norman as well. My niece and I are the only two people on both sides of the family who dont have blue eyes. We have dark green eyes which, as family lore insists, we inherited from our mutual ancestor, Frederick Barbarossa, the Holy Roman emperor. Seems like our families really got around! The connection between Scots/Celtic/ Viking does make sense, based upon how mobile the Vikings were over the centuries. Did any readers of this page happen to see the outstanding recent Viking exhibit at the British Museum? If so, you could not possibly forget the reproduction of a longboat frame. My jaw dropped when I saw that. My thanks again to all of you. This website rocks!
