Thanks to all of your dancing, counts were high enough and we were admitted! (Kinda crazy that Im at the point where being admitted makes me happy...) On our way in Kiley sounded like a 30 year old pro by saying, Mom, I can do this. I was nervous before, but now Im ready. Im just going to go in and get it over with. About 5 minutes later, right as I was thinking to myself how mature, (and brave), she is for her age, she asks me, Mom, do you think Allie loves me more than her stuffed animals and her bunk bed?, and I was immediately reminded shes still only 5 :) Kiley surprised me as usual and was amazing today, (shes always amazing, but I was nervous after the chaos that ensued the last time I brought her in). She didnt fight me at all about going in, and only cried for about 3 minutes when getting accessed, which is completely normal considering shes human. We were on the 5th floor in clinic for a long time today, but actually had a lot of fun! Kiley and Jen were little pranksters, although somehow even in their best effort to scare/surprise Kyla- Kyla jumped out and surprised them! It was so funny... Especially when Kiley exclaimed, Could there be anything better than this?!?! Shes too much! We ended up getting an x-ray to ensure that nothing has happened to her tibia that would require she have limited weight restrictions again, (shes been saying it hurts and limping off and on again). Now we are sitting in her room on the 8th floor waiting for her first chemo to be administered. This is the chemo that requires we put ice packs on the bottom of her feet so avoid the blistering that happened the first time. To wrap up this long update, her team came in to look at her skin since the last time they saw her she was still in pain from the 3rd degree radiation burns... Im happy to report how pleased they were with her progress! Its hard to believe it was ever as bad as it was... I personally think the baths with coconut oil really helped speed up the healing, and Im convinced Kiley is now the toughest person I know. Seriously!
