Thanks to all who came to Shalom, Salaam: An Evening For Peace In The Holy Land! A strong commitment to work together for peace in the Holy Land locally by David Less, Reverend Elizabeth Thompson, Dr. Bob Waxman, Rev. Arthur Lee, Rev. Donald C Thompson, and many who attended. David Less introduced the Abrahamic Reunion, and spoke of many of the peacemakers including Ilias Jabbour, a 7th Generation Arab Christian Peacemaker, and how many of the traditional peacemakers in the Holy Land have lost hope, that the Abrahamic Reunion is keeping the flame of hope alive while many of those who before have worked for peace have ceased to work anymore, that now more than ever we need to support the peacemakers of the Holy Land. He read from The Week - that the struggle in Israel has become an equilibrium of perpetual violence that the political leadership benefits by - and how we cannot allow for this to become the status quo, to be - we must work to change this. Peacemakers Eliyahu McLean and Ghassan Manasra skyped in (even though it was 3am in Israel!) to fill everyone in on the recent events in the Holy Land, emphasizing how this work is building groundwork for more - we want more than 1 bus of people - 2, 3, 5, thousands of busses full of people! said Ghassan. Rev. Elizabeth Thompson spoke of the divine breath that connects all beings, and guided all of us to feel deeply the shared breath of life available to us at all times, how we are privileged to breathe it without fear of bombs falling around us. Dr. Bob Waxman illuminated the commonalities and unifying ideas that link the Abrahamic Traditions - and how the path of knowledge, used to view the commonalities instead of the differences, can spark the flow of our deepest wisdom - unconditional love. Rev. Arthur Lee recounted the story of Abraham, Sarah, Hagar, Isaac, and Ishmael from both the Bible and Quran, and how the two brothers made amends after years, to bury their father together - and how this inspirational story of reconciliation can be a model for the religions that sprang from these two men. Rev. Donald C. Thompson spoke of his journey - encountering Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and hearing from the Gospels how the truth shall set you free. Sura Charlier led inspiring sing-along type songs, weaving sacred phrases from the different religious traditions, including kyrie eleison christe eleison and peace on earth good will to all. Mahbood Len Seligman led beautiful and uplifting songs inspiring all to peace and unity, and selfless help to those who need it. David Dwij Will Gittens and Linda Maree paused everyone to reflect on the sharing, bringing us all into a beautiful state of peace with melodious and fluid instrumental music played on the tambour and his custom-made dwij - a sitar-inspired guitar that you finger-pick. Finally, Shahabuddin David Less brought the group into a short and powerful silence for fervent prayer to the Holy Land. We raised nearly $2,000 for the Abrahamic Reunion! Thanks to all who participated. This is about 40% of the cost of one of the Abrahamic Reunions events in the Holy Land - please help sponsor more events. Deep appreciation to all who joined us! Especially ecoGenesis / Pam Pamela Fetterman, and Judy Cannon for sponsoring the evening, and to all who donated. Special thanks to Kismet Weeber for hosting the Silent Auction! To Terry of Fusion Therapy for donating also. Peace - Shalom - Salaam - May all beings be well - May all beings be happy - Peace - Peace - Peace.
