Thanks to everyone who made part 1 of our commitment celebration so special. On way back to Berlin humbled by the beautiful actions created this week. The legacy of the festival to the island is visible: At least 2 socially responsible enterprises underway between local women and women from Cairo (upcycling and hammock production), a WOOFIng initiative, an island map of resources and points of interest, a means of distributing internet to the island made from mostly found materials, activities with the island children (some little makers there starting to explore on their own), heaps of pallet furniture, reproducible prototypes of solar water heater, drip irrigation, and kinetic energy. Plus one functioning hostel/social catalysation space with a capable and friendly team already having new business drop by. All this whilst taking time to celebrate, create a party, chill, explore and jump in the Nile. The less visible legacy is the bonds made, friendships formed through actions and shared experience that i hope will remain. The widening of the soul and the mutual opening of minds. Amazing what you can do with no plan and an inspirational story. To all who were a part - keep being awesome, and keep in touch.
