Thanks to everyone who participated in our quiet weather quiz today! We asked what the record longest streaks without measurable precipitation are in Chicago and Rockford. The correct answer for Chicago was c) 30 days, ending on February 5, 1919. In Rockford, the correct answer is b) 39 days, ending on March 19, 1969. As a result of these impressively long dry streaks in these years, January 1919 is the second driest January on record in Chicago with only 0.20 of precipitation and February 1969 is the driest February on record in Rockford, with a measly 0.04 of precipitation. While our area looks to go at least one week without precipitation, this will pale in comparison to the record dry stretches.
