Thanks to my amazing friend Stephanie from White Light studio here in St. Catharines for sharing this amazing article with the world. I find lately there has been so much talk about depression, especially in my immediate circle of friends and in the area that I live. It makes me question what is going on here...? is this just the direction our society is going in? Have this many people always been depressed but we are now are talking about it more, or are more people suffering from depression? If more people are suffering from depression, what is causing this? Could it be related to our higher intake of processed foods and chemical toxins? What about higher levels of stress? Maybe it has a genetic component that becomes active when stress is high. Or maybe we have become disconnected with our inner spiritual selves, feeling saddened by the loss of our human connection with nature - a disconnect from society, the earth and ourselves. Are we placing too much weight on Facebook, electronic communication, and internet connections that are driving us farther and farther from physical touch and the sharing of mental energy with friends, loved ones and family. Is one weekend a year camping giving us enough grounding and peace to keep us going all year? If you live in the Niagara region and suffering from depression I would fully and completely recommend getting together with Stephanie for a session. I had a friend last week kind of shoo my suggestion aside thinking that it was silly, but I truly believe that there is a strong link between our connection with the spiritual self, energy awareness and mental health. Once again, proof that modern medicine has bombarded another disorder with promises of chemical help, completely dismissing the role we play in healing our own bodies with spiritual and physical awareness. Always looking for the short cut. Take this pill and your life will become better. Who cares why it sucks, it is just easier to medicate. Please note: I am not pulling a Tom Cruise here and saying that medication isnt necessary in certain conditions. I know that there are cases, especially where suicidal thoughts are in the way, that meds are necessary. I am saying that our medical system in my opinion is completely failing with its treatment of depression. Prescriptions are handed out like candy to anybody saying that they are having a bad day. People are taking these pills without even thinking about all the side effects and the toxic load these chemicals are placing on their bodies. I am just saying that maybe there are other answers. Maybe if you dedicate time in a different direction you may find some relief. Just remember, the brain is an organ just like the rest of them in our bodies. If it is having a problem, it can heal! naturalcuresnotmedicine/shaman-views-mental-illness/
