Thanks to my cousin David Whitmon for drawing my attention to this video. At the moment, the road planners in Birmingham and Sandwell ignore what is needed to get people cycling in preference to the alternatives. Notice the closing comment, The bicycle is the fastest way from A to B. ... Do it right from the beginning ... If our planners would just get the vision for designing cycle routes as a priority, it would improve life for everyone, including those who needs to use cars, buses, or walk. Instead we have increasing confusion, as well as many road layout changes which are hostile to cycling.
