Thanks to the people who came along and watched my cake demonstration today. Its always nerve wracking - will anyone turn up, will I babble like a raving lunatic, will people like what I do - gotta wonder why I do it! Anyway, it was lovely that people stayed around afterwards to chat, ask questions and talk about their own caking experiences. Which brings me to why I DO actually do those demos - sharing knowledge and helping people do their own thing. Some of the best tips I ever received came from people who were just sharing their own experiences. And I know - from that early slumposaurus cake I made years ago - my first fondant cake - the one that was MEANT to be a long necked dinosaur but was more of a quadruple chinned overweight lizard - how wonderful it feels to create something that makes people happy (clearly my then five year old saw the slumposaur as something perfectly wonderful as opposed to a cake nightmare, which I was seeing). So keep caking, people, and keeping creating edible happiness. :-)
