Thanksgiving Day Dinner Delivery - Volunteers Needed! 4000 Thanksgiving Day Dinner Delivery Volunteers are needed @Mission Arlington Export. Tell a friend. Share. 8:00 A.M. Thursday, November 27, 2014. Mission Arlington / Mission Metroplex 210 W South St, Arlington, TX 817-277-6620, ext. 6143. 4000 volunteers are needed at Mission Arlington from 8 AM through NOON and possibly beyond. Turkeys, turkey baskets, and hot meals need to be delivered to waiting families. Volunteer as long or as short as fits your schedule. Thanksgiving happens rain or shine! How You Can Volunteer Preparing for Thanksgiving Day: Volunteers are needed in the days and weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. Food needs to be sorted and boxed. Mapscos need to be matched with deliveries, and so much more. Everything needs to be ready by Thanksgiving morning. On Thanksgiving Morning: Volunteers are needed at Mission Arlington by 8:00 am and on-going through the noon hour and beyond. Turkeys, turkey baskets, and hot meals need to be delivered to waiting families. No need to call. Just show up, and there will be plenty of work for you. Bringing a group: If you want to bring a group to volunteer, before Thanksgiving, or on Thanksgiving day, call at 817-277-6620, ext. 6143. VOLUNTEER First youll wait in line with other volunteers. Then everyone gets different delivery assignments (with maps!). Keep in mind how many boxes you can fit in your vehicle! Then youll go get your car and pull up in the Volunteer Line to get boxed dinners for your assigned deliveries. This event is unhosted, so you may want to volunteer with family/friends and deliver together. More info at missionarlington.org/joinin/thanksgiving DELIVERY Clean out your trunk or back seat because eventually youll pull your cars up close, pick up boxed dinners and frozen turkeys, and head out to make deliveries. Many of these are in apartments, so be prepared to climb stairs. FAMILY FRIENDLY Their website doesnt list a policy regarding child volunteers for this event, so Id say bring them! Most places prefer 12 and up. I have taken Girl Scouts as young as 4th grade to deliver Thanksgiving dinners in the past. They hosted a food drive, sorted the donations, decorated copy paper boxes, boxed up the meals, and delivered the dinners. You know if your kids are up for this kind of activity! PLEASE NOTE Mission Arlington is not requesting food donations on this day, they will have boxed up dinners in advance. However, some organizations will still be delivering frozen turkeys to them on this day since there isnt enough room to store all the frozen donations long-term. Ive been asked by members if its OK to add extra items to the boxed dinners youre assigned to deliver. If you want to, I suggest keeping the items in your car and adding them to the boxes at the delivery locations so you dont slow down the drive-through pick up line! The boxes generally contain dinner basics, but no drinks, fresh veggies/fruit or desserts. LOCATION Mission Arlingtons main office is at 210 W South Street,MissionArlington. They have other area locations, but the Volunteer Line is at this location. Typically the road is blocked off, so you cant miss it! Wear comfy shoes. Its OK to bring coffee or breakfast in line while you wait! ray cell 214 881 5729 click follow on my facebook page
