Thanksgiving Scripture Then Jesus answered, Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner? Luke 17:17-18 (ESV) Observation In this passage Jesus hears the cries of ten lepers and heals them. They were all people of faith because Jesus merely said to them go and present yourselves to the priests and they did so, they were not healed until they obeyed. But once they were healed only one of them raced back to Jesus to thank him and that person was not even from around that place. Nine others were healed by faith and then went on about their affairs whatever they were; likely running home to tell loved ones or something. The thing is they forgot to thank the one who healed them. Application You know, I have no idea how many things I pray for each day, but I can tell you that it is disproportionate to the number of things I thank God for answering. Often, I have caught myself realising that a prayer has been well and truly answered and I have not thanked God for that answer. Having a prayer journal of some type helps, even if it is just a list; make a note of the things you are praying for and remember to thank God when you tick the items off the list. Prayer Dear God, I am eternally grateful for your gift of grace that brought me to faith. Thank you from the depth of my being for all the things you do for me every day. Thank you for today. Thank you, thank you, and thank you.
