That David Killed Goliath Remains an indisputable Fact –The Holy Bible is Infallible. The incontestable fact remains that David killed Goliath. 1 Chron 20:5 throws more light on the 2 Sam 21:19 that Femi Aribisala ignorantly quoted in his write-up “David did not kill Goliath” in the November 10, 2013 edition of The Vanguard newspaper. To set the record straight, it was Lahmi Goliath (a brother of the Goliath killed by David) that was killed by Elhanan the son of Jair. The passage reads thus: “In another battle with the Philistines, Elhanan son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weavers rod. (1 Chron 20:5 NIV) For avoidance of doubt, David was already king and King Saul was already dead by the time the latter incident happened. The confused writer needed only to have read the Bible passage he quoted from verse one to confirm this. Meanwhile, David killed the older Goliath during the reign of king Saul. Please note that it is a punishable offence in the sight of God to add or remove anything from His word in order to dissuade (or even persuade) the unsuspecting people (See Rev. 22:18-19). It goes without saying that this kind of misleading and heretic article is nothing but part of the signs of “THE END TIME”. “…there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them — bringing swift destruction on themselves. (2 Peter 2:1 ; also read 1 Tim. 4:1 NIV). Please note that The Holy Bible is Infallible – no discrepancies . You only need to search the scriptures yourself like the Bereans in order to capture the raw facts. According to the Word of God, “Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message (preached) with great eagerness (not in a cavilling, critical spirit), and (yet not in a credulous spirit, for they) examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” Acts 17:11 (See Isa 8:20; John 5:39; Gal 1:8-9.) God has no “grand sons/daughters”: We are all sons and daughters of God Almighty. God bless you all as you undertake not only to search but also to digest the undiluted Word of God.
