That children are a blessing does not mean that blessing comes through having 20 children. In other words, not having 20 children does not mean you will be blessed 20 less times. Families with 20 children may have 20 gifts (blessings), but they are not more blessed than families with 2 or 3 children (or 0 children for that matter). To believe ones blessing comes through or is determined by having as many children as possible is just another form of legalism, or earning graces from God. Its really no different than sending in your seed tithe to the televangelist to receive God’s favor. Blessing comes by grace through faith in submission to Christ and pursuit of holiness in the fear of the Lord. How wonderful it would be to have 20 children by the providence of God, but know that no one is earning Gods favor by having 20 children, or lacking blessing if they dont.
