That darn knuckle on the unloading auger came apart again, - TopicsExpress

That darn knuckle on the unloading auger came apart again, spitting the key way almost to the top of the auger spout, took me a bit to get it back down the tube, but I got it...Thats 2 times now that I have made my trip back from the fields with a load and found this has happened, its a TOTAL SHUTDOWN for an hour or so till I get it back together, just to give you an idea I can Dry a batch of corn in 29 minutes 240 bushel so if my dryer is shut down for over an hour thats 720 bushel of corn that I am falling behind, I am bringing in close 1500 bushel an hour or so and driving hiway 30 for 3 miles each way, the traffic is BRUTAL, people flip you off and try to pass you when traffic is coming and they try to cut you off....I often think I could just run your a$$ over real easy my tractor sits higher than most vehicles and its 4X4 and with the weight I am pulling it wouldnt be pretty, but again I understand its just there intelligence speaking as so many people dont have an IDEA what it takes to do this day after day night after night, it may look EASY but you better be on the GAME or things go to H$$$ in a fast way and then with prices you cant afford any MISHAPS, one little breakdown can cost thousands of dollars, our machinery is high tech and fairly new, the bigger the tractor the more MONEY it costs to operate, FUEL is not cheap neither, you got to make each minute count, spending almost $3,000.00 each time we fill up all the tractors and combines sure gets in your pocket in a hurry daily, not to mention the LP for drying the corn or electricity running all the fans and spreaders and augers...This operation costs a lot of money.....Profits hmmmm they will be slim this year, however I am gambling and hoping to see at least $5.00 corn before long, as I think up north and west will be finding a lot of disasters as there corn never matured as it FROZE to early, therefore with there issues we might find ourselves sitting in a good position if that is the case...Its worth a GAMBLE as I see it, nothing else looks promising at this moment, DEMAND is building with the new openings of more ETHANOL plants and CORN MILLING PLANTS that will use MILLIONS of BUSHELS of CORN for production....BRAZIL plays a huge role in GRAIN PRICES in our COUNTRY, it was dry and they had fears, but now I see precipitation heading that way and that should keep prices steady for a bit....
