That last day, Damn, there she sat. I was walking up along the glassed side of a cafeteria and through it and through the front window I could see her sitting in the sun with her back to the building with that long beautiful hair tied back. I stopped for a second and thought somethng along the lines of damn she is so fine and it was so cool we were friends. I tried to let all my non-sense from the previous day go, I thought I had. Then I realized she was looking for someone... and I walked around the edge of the building and she looked at me and smiled so sweetly and while that moment is warmly embedded in my memory unfortunately, so is the thought that I had never wanted to bed any other person the way I wanted to serve her in my entire life. I just didnt want to interfere with what would have seemed inevitable. There were a lot of young good looking people male and female there and she had her pick of most of them. Two female Phds who had befriended me asked who she was. Its messed up to be so ignorant everyone seemed to look at her and see gay, but when I looked at her all I saw was a nice calm casual person who happened to be a pretty girl, who by the way was gay, but when she smiled at me with the sun in her face and on her hair from living in South Beach to life in Venice in the seventies to San Diego since she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen and I knew I was going to say or do something stupid. Can I email you? wanna smoke out? go for a walk? something anything.... anything at all. I was so happy to see her at that store.
