That ol velvety grey blanket is back - across which smoky, jagged edged clumps of dark charcoal are sliding and skidding at a rate of knots - and from which a fine, almost misty rain is falling steadily to the earth here below, slanting almost sideways when theyre caught by the erratic but pretty strong gusts that come and go in random bursts of manic enthusiasm that set the treetops moshing in wild chaotic dance, and even bend whole bushes sideways closer to home... Im wondering if this is the remnants of hurricane Bertha that was getting the weather prophets so excited over the past few days - the one that they thought could cut a swathe across the whole of southern England - only I had the impression that it would come later today... Still, I guess its in the nature of such storms to be unpredictable - speed and direction being of no consequence to such events - or maybe this is just a precursory appetiser - theres an exciting thought! These gusts are certainly not lightweight, thats for sure... The rain falls steadily on, splashing into the pools already formed on the skylight and getting thicker and heavier as time rolls by, driving the winged creatures into whatever sheltered nooks they can find, and soaking into the earth below - which will be a blessing to the plantlife... me, Ill sip my morning tea and contemplate the day - and the week ahead - the band will be assembling in the wilds of deepest Herefordshire from tuesday, to prepare our depping drummer, Michael Giri for the brace of festivals well be playing over next weekend - should be fun, unless the weather stays like this! But one things for sure - whatever it brings, well sing! :¬}
