That the lack of water supply in the villages is compelling the consumers to fetch water from unhygienic water sources, which has resulted in spread of various diseases. It is also necessary to mention here that village like Khanpur, Uleta and Rajaka the villagers created small dugouts in dried up pounds. The dugouts collect sub- surface groundwater that oozes slowly from the underlying sand. To collect water from the dugouts, women and girls spend more than five hours a day. Their first journey to collect water starts early in the morning and they often return in the evening for more that may have accumulated during the day. Water is often taken by other people from a personal dugout. Afraid of loss of water, some villagers ask their children to guard their dugouts through the day.
