That was a very busy first day in Dallas! The sad news that Thomas Eric Duncan had died came just after the morning news meeting at KERA. In the hours after I needed to be in four places nearly at once: the neighborhood where Duncan lived, a press conference with his fiances pastor, a CDC press conference and out on the street talking with people in Dallas. With help from KERA colleagues I was able to pull a story together (though not in time for the first feed of NPR All Things Considered at 4 pm--the CDC presser started at 4 pm). A link to the audio and a transcript is below. Youll see Wade Goodwyns name on the byline, thats because he jumped in for the first ATC feed so I could monitor the CDC event. More to come, I plan to stay in Dallas through Sunday morning. npr.org/2014/10/08/354639644/first-ebola-patient-diagnosed-in-u-s-dies-at-dallas-hospital
