That was fun... we intended to move a few pigs from the high-tunnel to the half acre, open pen (just on the other side of the field road). During our first attempt at catching pigs, we were lucky enough to get two caught in our portable pen. It wasnt too tough to scoot the pen & pigs across the field road and into their new warm-season pen. Once there, we released them... then back to the high-tunnel. After a few attempts to duplicate our two-for-one catch, we gave up. Only one crossed the road this time. After chasing another (our 4th pig) around the high-tunnel, a neighbor stopped in, with his children. He mentioned something about a black pig running across a field.. OH CRAP! After a loooong quarter mile jog, Madison and I were able to turn the American Guinea Hog back towards the farm. Take my word for it.... scared pigs dont think right. We finally got the on-the-lamb pig back into the outdoor pen.... then Madison noticed another hog out. OH CRAP! We put her back where she came from... so after what seemed like an hour and a half, we only got 2 out of the 6 pigs in the summer pen. Maybe tomorrow...
