Thats it, all done with the photos and videos. Just a little snippet of my 3wks on the road. Ive done 5km shy of 2000km, passed through the UK, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria and into Slovenia. My world will now start to change from familiar, to an exciting unknown. Already Ive noticed the cakes are different and yummy, the Slovenian people are friendly and tomorrow I head for Ljubljana for a couple of days, then I need to get back on the road. Croatia awaits, and a run down the coast into countries I havent a clue about, before a huge haul accross Turkey. What will happen! Who knows. It is exciting and unnerving all mixed up. Its an emotion that could stop me in my tracks and make me turn for home, but it is also an addictive mix of fear, fatigue and frustration combined with unrivalled joy, achievement and such beauty (found in both the landscape and the kindness and smiles of those I meet). So I go on. This journey is vast. Unimaginable to me, every time I look at a map of the world. But I take each day, each km, as it comes and accept what happens as fate, and hold fast to my belief that things always work out. I met a German lady in one campsite and she said, quite excitedly, Ive read alot of travel/expedition articles in magazines about people like you, on explorations and adventures, now Ive finally met one. I replied, oh, Im just me, I dont see myself as an explorer or adventurer, Im just Michael, going on a bike ride. I still feel like the same person that I was when I got up to go to work in the morning. Will this change! I hope not. I know that my hardest day is still easier than some peoples easiest day, and I am blessed and fortunate to be healthy enough to be able to do this.
