The #1 Parkland Cobras traveled up to Kankakee for the Cavalier Invite for a series of matches this weekend. A primary key to this years Cobra team is that all 15 players are high-level players that could start for most NJCAA teams, and todays matches highlighted that fact as all 15 brought great play in the two 3-0 sweeps on the evening. In match 1, the Cobras faced the host team Kankakee. PC came out fast sweeping the Cavaliers 25-12, 25-19, 25-16. Teigan Flaws and Lizzy Barnard led the Cobra attack with 8 kills each while Lori VanBeek, Alayna Jackson and Kailey Kleinert each had 5 kills. Kleinert had her best match of the season leading the Cobras with 8 blocks as well. Madison Weldon (13), Morgan Hickman (10) and Kelly Lean (9) combined for 32 assists, and Kaitlyn Hunt had 10 digs. In the second match, the Cobras defeated Sauk Valley 25-15, 25-20, 25-21. Flaws again led the offense with 6 kills while Jackson, VanBeek, Elise Dahlke and Miaya Peacock each had 5.
