The 10 Plagues... This story is so familiar to all of us, especially to those who grew up in the Sunday School that we might have missed an important message. Whenever you read and God hardened Pharaohs heart what comes to your mind? If God actively hardened Pharaohs heart then why would He count it against him? Does this show injustice and unfairness of God? No...by all means no! God can never go against who He is (Deut 32:4, Ps 89:1, Ps 92, 2Tim 2:13 to name a few). But the life of Pharaoh simply reflects how a sinful heart reacts to Gods magnificence. To simply put it, how had you reacted when the rebels attacked Zamboanga, the quake in Cebu and the Yolanda of Tacloban? If these things had led you to tears and knelt down before God and asked for forgiveness, then your heart is right with God. But if these things had led you to question God and be bitter towards Him, then this shows how hard your heart it. What had happened the last three months were an escalation of things: from man-made casualty to God-ordained ones. How had these affected your perspective of God? This is also what had happened to Pharaoh. As he saw the power and greatness of God, his sinful heart hardened all the more. I pray that as calamities strike us, all the more well bow down before our Creator and beg for His mercy.
