The 100 Club of Arizona proudly announces the addition of a southern Arizona office that will be run by retired Tucson Police Sergeant James Kirk. In the past 15 years, the 100 Club of Arizona has grown their assistances programs to include officers and firefighters from around the state of Arizona. The addition of a southern Arizona representative is to meet the increasing needs and expanding the numerous benefits available through the 100 Club of Arizona to the agencies serving the southern part of the state. “Having an Tucsonan as the newest member of the 100 Club of Arizona staff will ensure a better statewide representation in our commitment to fulfilling our mission across the state,” 100 Club Executive Director, Sharon Knutson-Felix said. During Kirk’s 25 years with the Tucson Police Department, he performed in a diverse range of capacities. His past assignments included Detective Sergeant, Field Sergeant, Detective and covert and surveillance assignments. Since July of 2006, he was assigned to the Behavioral Sciences Unit. Kirk has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Arizona, as well as post-graduate study in counseling related fields. He is accredited as a Certified Trauma Services Specialist and a Certified Trauma Responder through the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists. He has attended courses through the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and the University of Maryland Baltimore Campus on Group Crisis Intervention, Individual Crisis Intervention and Peer Support, Strategic Response to Crisis, and Advanced Critical Incident Stress Management. “Jim’s extensive experience will help the 100 Club spread the reach of programs like out Peer 100 program that addresses the wellness challenges associated with the public safety professions,” Knutson-Felix said. “For the past eight years, I have had the honor of dedicating my time in a peer support capacity as a fellow peace officer in supporting the men and women who serve their communities. I am humbled by the opportunity that I now have to serve all first responders in southern Arizona through the 100 Club of Arizona,” Kirk said. Over the course of his career, Kirk was awarded the Medal of Merit, the Medal of Distinguished Service, and The Chief’s Citation of Excellence. In 2006, he was selected as the community’s first recipient of the Unsung Hero Award. In 2009, he was the first two-time recipient of the Unsung Hero Award. Kirk is a native of Tucson and is married. He and his wife, Sarah, have two sons, Cory and Nolan. Cory graduated from West Point in 2013 and is currently stationed at Ft. Rucker, Alabama as a second lieutenant. Nolan is an Army ROTC cadet and is majoring in mechanical engineering. Nolan attends Northern Arizona University and is a recipient of a 100 Club of Arizona scholarship.
