The 11th Day of November The 11th day of November, The 11th month, the 11th hour, the 11th day, And just a moment to remember As my respects I sadly pay. Three 11’s in dice to roll, Brave lads to war were lead; Now who amongst can forget the toll Upon these brave boys long since dead? For our freedom what they gave, Their sacrifice most supreme; Now standing at a soldier’s grave, My tears are running like a stream. The headstone says he was twenty-one, And though this lad I never met, For every father and every son, We the living shall not forget. Dave MacLennan
