The 12 Days of Muskies Day 5 - Mid Summer Dreams Day 5 starts - TopicsExpress

The 12 Days of Muskies Day 5 - Mid Summer Dreams Day 5 starts with Dave Davis from Pennsylvania and another trophy. Ottawa River muskies love Pennsylvanians and if you followed us through the year you saw lots of Penguins and Flyers fans with trophies. Dave and his long time fishing partner caught their first 50+ here at the Ottawa River Musky Factory over a decade ago. Traditions are a wonderful thing. Next up was Kat. I have had the privilege of fishing with Kat and her family since she was a budding soccer star some seven years ago. There are pictures of the Alaska Wood gang with muskies from six of those seven years. This past year we boated muskies FIVE OUT OF EVERY SIX DAYS we left the dock. How many musky fisheries can say that? Being a musky guide is the best job in the world. Because musky fishing is a team sport and there is a lot of learning, the guide often fishes with his guests. A good guide should fish the used water or be fishing a different technique or bait than the rest of the boat. Occasionally even a guide gets a nice one. Wally Robins stopped in to release a few more big ones as he always does and go figure, he is wearing his lucky Shimano hat. My favourite Floridian musky chaser and his father-in-law Jack came by for their annual musky trip. As usual, it was a BIG adventure that included some nice fish and a health scare for Jack. Lucky the Canadian medical system looks after everyone regardless and costs are about 10% of a trip to the doctor south of the border for tourists. Jack is fine by the way and ready to fight another beast. The funniest video of the year came out of this trip but you will have to go and look it up from the August post on their trip. Finally a wonderful generational picture. Peter George caught Moby Dick on his trip to the O last summer when he boated a 40+ lb musky he caught casting. This year he wanted to share the passion with his grand children and we did that big time. Both boys caught their first musky and a few more including this night time trophy. Night time is the right time and we fish into the dark almost every day here at The Factory. Merry Christmas, JA -- John M.
