The 1957 Maserati 250F V12 Formula One car. 3.0 litre displacement, 4 overhead cams, 10.5:1 compression, 6 dual-throat Weber carburettors, 2 spark plugs per cylinder, dual distributors (24 coils and 24 sets of points) dual oil and dual water pumps. The engine block was wet-sleeved and the seal between the aluminum heads and the sleeves was via the torque on the head bolts only. The crankshaft turned a series of 23 gears that, in turn, ran all 4 cams, the fuel, water and oil pumps, and also turned the distributors. The 12 cylinder magnesium engine block could easily be lifted with one hand. The car is rated as one of the best formula one cars ever produced.
