The 1982 German film DER FAN has totally passed me by for over 30 years. Of course, Id seen the title mentioned, which itself gives some idea of the basic story (about a teenage girl obsessed with a new wave star), and was aware it had some edgy content, but beyond that I was pretty much in the dark...and indeed, thats probably the best way to view the film, so I actually would not recommend watching the trailer Ive linked to if you do plan to see it. I thought the first hour was terrific, while the final third, which is what earned the film its reputation, I found something of a let down...as a whole though I would rate it a must-see. I saw DER FAN via a custom-subbed copy of the German Bluray, which does contain the English language dub, but I doubt thats the way you would want to experience the film...
