The 2014 ~ 2015 Breeding Season... This update is for all our FB friends, who are not at the coal face of this industry. As we posted yesterday, all racehorses in the Southern Hemisphere turn a year older, on 01st August each year. In less than a month and officially on the 01 September 2014 (& every year on this date), the Southern Hemisphere Breeding / Covering Season starts. It will end normally +/- 15 December 2014. The gestation period of a pregnant mare is +/- on average 340 days. Mares inevitably foal down under the cover of dark, in the late evening / early ours of the morning. We share these photos of CORN SYRUP and her 2010 filly foal ~ GOLDEN MIRABILIS, who is currently in racing with Vishal Raghubeer & partners, as seldom do Owners ever see the horses they race, as foals. GOLDEN MIRABILIS is by the Stallion, MIESQUES APPROVAL (USA), who was Champion Turf Horse of the USA in 2006. Her mother (Dam) CORN SYRUP raced successfully for our founding Owner and she is out of that great race Mare HOT CORN, who was Equus Champion Sprinter in South Africa in 1981, with her 12 Wins. *(Photo taken in the WMM Fountainvale Foaling Boxes, on 06 October 2010, shortly after GOLDEN MIRABILIS was born @ 01:30 in the morning.
